We’ve rounded up a list of the best and craziest looks at this year’s futuristic-themed Met Gala, but there are two girls who didn’t quite make the cut. It’s not because they weren’t noteworthy, in fact it's because they deserve more attention. Amidst the sea of sparkling silvers and gunmetals were Emma Watson and Margot Robbie who donned eco-friendly Calvin Klein Collection numbers.
If you've seen Emma's recent Facebook post, she revealed that together with Calvin Klein and Eco Age, the three collaborated to create a sustainable and stylish outfit for one of the biggest fashion events of the year. Using yarn made from recycled plastic bottles, organic cotton to construct the inner bustier, organic silk for the lining, and other recyclable materials for the zipper, the five-piece ensemble (which Emma plans to repurpose) was formed.
Margot Robbie's simple cut-out white frock on the other hand used organic silk and zippers from recyclable materials.
Both pieces, together with Lupita Nyong’o’s jade sequin showstopper, are Calvin Klein’s answer to the #GreenCarpetChallenge, which basically aims to raise ecological awareness through fashion. While we’re sure you are already aware that plastic is one of the biggest pollutants on earth, did you know that conventional cotton uses more chemicals than any other crop in the world? That cotton tee you love so much could actually be harming the earth more than you think! By recycling and choosing organic even with your choices in fashion, you are already making a step to decrease your carbon footprint.
When consciousness and creativity align, a cleaner and healthier earth is at reach.
