We knew Emi Jorge's minaudières were destined for great heights when we first laid our eyes on them. The striking hand-crafted objects of beauty, art, and function have landed Emi on CoutureLab, an online purveyor of carefully curated luxury goods that celebrate creativity and artisanal craftmanship. (She joins fellow Filipino accessory designers Bea Valdes and Tina Maristela-Ocampo on the site.)
Emi is featured on the website's Magazine section, where a three-page spread profiles her as a bespoke shoe designer-turned-bag designer who is constantly inspired by her travels around the Philippine archipelago. She talks about her inspiration, and creative and production process, with an emphasis on the special relationship she has with her design team in Cebu.
CoutureLab says of her work, "Emi’s minaudières unite a sophisticated cosmopolitan sensibility [with] the raw energies of the natural world." Indeed, Emi talked to us last year about the same collection available on the site, enthusing about the different inspirations that sparked her designs—Banaue's rice terraces, for example. The clutches are sold in CoutureLab, ranging from $749 to $1175.
