We've long been enthusiastic fans of modest, demure wedding gowns. They're just so regal! There was, of course, that immortal frock Grace Kelly wore to wed Prince Rainer III of Monaco in 1956, and, more recently, Kate Middleton's elegant lace Alexander McQueen number from 2009...and now, to add to the list, British singer Ellie Goulding's bespoke Chloe gown that has us swooning all over the place.
To marry art dealer Caspar Jopling in a beautiful ceremony at North Yorkshire's York Minster Cathedral, Ellie donned a long-sleeved, high-necked dress designed by Natacha Ramsay-Levi. “We worked on a collage of references from the Victorian era that she wanted to weave into the design, in dialogue with the historical York cathedral where the ceremony was to take place,” she said. “Her creative point of view made the process fluid and inspiring, and I feel that the end result really reflects her personal sense of style.”
The loving result? A custom hand-embroidered piece—that took over 640 hours to make, by the way!—dotted with intricate White Roses of York and glass bead details.
Call us stunned and smitten. A precious extra bit: Ellie's simple tulle veil was secretly stiched with hers and Caspar's initials! Beyond romantic. Congrats to the picture-perfect newlyweds!
