Last time we checked in with Jonathan Saunders, the Scottish designer had just shut down his eponymous label due to “personal reasons.” Since then he’s managed to keep a low profile up until recently when we caught him smack in the middle of controversy thanks to Elle France. Just a couple of days ago, the publication posted a story which reported that the seat left by Raf Simons at Dior has been filled with Jonathan’s appointment as the new creative director of the French label. Like with any other breaking news with regards to vacancies and appointments, the Internet quickly went into a frantic state but hushed down soon after Elle France retracted the said post.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. A number of names have popped up since Raf’s exit from the label, some pointing fingers to Alber Elbaz while others are betting on Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci or Céline’s Phoebe Philo. For now, no new appointments have officially been made at the house of Dior. Until then, let’s all make like a beauty queen and just clasp our hands together as we wait for the final announcement.
