Imagine the jazz age, the popular art deco, combined with architectural brilliance that encompasses the 1930s walking down the runway translated in velvet, metallic embroidery, and ornate embellishments. Elie Saab has brought back to life the lavish era and the golden girls with a sultry collection that imbibes the city’s grit and glamour. But with all the opulence from New York, the Middle Eastern designer has not forgotten his roots. His work brings in his sentiments from his own migration from Lebanon to the Big Apple rendered in floral motifs and bird appliques.

The show’s highlight, however, was probably not the column gowns or the sultry detour from his usual lady-like designs. His fall couture line became even more intriguing by including a mini version of his designs. Child models were sent down the runway in kiddie couture gowns styled with age-appropriate bracelets, headbands, and gold ballet flats.
