Every year since 1992, a handful of the most eligible bachelorettes across the globe are invited to take part in Ophélie Renouard’s le Bal des Débutantes, formerly known as the Crillon Ball. Basically, the ladies hand-picked are of 16 to 22 of age, either from prominent families or exceptionally beautiful, talented, and smart. Princesses from all over the world as well as Dree Hemingway, Kyra Kennedy, and Sophia Rose Stallone have all taken part in the dreamy event, and now a Preview girl is about to take her place in the spotlight.
After posting teasers from her visit to Vivienne Westwood's atelier, Dominique announced the news on Instagram... in French!
This coming 28th of November, at the Palais De Chaillot in Trocadero, Paris, France, Gretchen Barretto and Tony Boy Cojuangco’s unica hija, Dominique Cojuangco, will be the Filipino representative to the fabulous le Bal. The first ever Filipina to be invited to the event was Paloma Urquijo Zobel. Two other Pinays graced the event after: Monica Zobel (Paloma's sister) and Emily Madrigal. And now, it's Dominique’s turn.
It is a three-day event filled with gown fittings, photo shoots, dance rehearsals, and so much more! Think Gossip Girl but on a global level.
What we’re really jealous about? It is a known fact that aside from raising money for charity, a huge part of the event is dressing the debs in haute couture from the very best in the fashion industry. Dominique will be making her debut into society in no less than a Vivienne Westwood stunner and Payal New York Jewels. She will also be prepped by the glam team of MAC Cosmetics. By tradition, the debs are escorted by her parents and a ‘cavalier.’ While most debs allow the organizers to pick an escort for them, we have a feeling Dominique will bring her own. We wonder who the lucky guy will be!
A black tie evening where you’re surrounded by fab designer frocks and the Eiffel Tower as your backdrop while you slow dance? Ugh, C’est la vie!
