With our attention clearly set on all the festivities over Labor Day weekend, we seem to have let one pressing issue slip through. Over that glorious few days of endless parties and activities, Dolce & Gabbana were found guilty of tax evasion and were sentenced to a year and six months in jail along with their accountant Luciano Patellito. However, the three will not actually spend any behind bars thanks to Italy’s two-year minimum jail time sentence. Whew!
All this dates back to 2004, following the sale of their brand to a holding company, Gado Srl, based in Luxembourg. Of course they continue to deny the charges and their plan is to appeal again, but they have also said that if they are forced to pay the €343.3 million fine they might have to close down the label.
If D&G shuts down, our hearts might just stop. But are they or are they not innocent? What do you guys think? Tweet us @stylebibleph!
