Do As The Romans

The fanciest footwork happening around town is as fierce as its warrior namesake.

Gladiators take the top slot as the sandal-of-choice of Manila's fashionistas, seen in varying heel and strap heights.

If you're keen on buying your own pair, remember that it's generally defined by two characteristics: the strap that runs from the middle of the toes upward to the leg; and the multiple straps that wrap around the feet, ankle, and (for the more adventurous types) the lower calves. Of course, Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, and Christopher Bailey have freely used their artistic license to design lust-worthy versions for Chanel, Dior, and Burberry respectively. They've done it with thicker straps in an interesting tangle; added tough hardware; and taken the sandal to new heights so to speak.

Of course in fashion, the more over-the-top your statement shoe, the better.
