Planning to splurge on a new handbag for the new year? Watch out because this Dior bag will definitely be on the top of your list. To welcome the new year and the Dior Cruise 2021 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri has blessed us with yet another sleek and to-die-for piece, the Caro bag. Keep scrolling to know more!
What is the Caro bag and why is it named as such?
The Caro bag is a supple shoulder bag, and was made as a tribute to Christian Dior’s younger sister, Catherine.
How is it made?
Like every other handbag in Dior’s arsenal, the Caro is meticulously handcrafted in Italy by Dior’s finest materials and craftsmen. They start off by cutting its pieces from calf leather from a studio sketch guide and quilted with over 18,700 stitches to produce the subtle yet recognizable Cannage effect.
The quilting is followed by hand-painted edges, gold-leaf stamping and pocket application. The subtle "30 Montaigne," which is a reference to the fashion house’s address, is added to the back of the bag and to top it off the signature “CD” on the gold-finish twist clasp and removable chain link shoulder strap.
What are the different kinds of the Caro bag?
The Caro is available in two sizes, comes in classic hues like black, ivory, beige, and gray to bright tones like mint green, red, sky blue, and rose. You’ll surely find the perfect one for you! The small version of the Caro comes in three exclusive materials like shearling, denim, and tie and Dior.
How much is the Caro bag?
To get your hands on the Caro, you’ll have to shell out a whopping $3500 (approximately P168,210) to $4600 (approximately P221,076) depending on your choice of color and size. You won’t only be paying for the bag itself, but for the hours of work put into it by Dior’s craftsmen and the thought put into it by the whole fashion house. You won’t get anything less than expected from the fashion, of course.
