In last week's Astrid Leong (of Crazy Rish Asians fame) article, we mentioned the importance of simplicity. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, simplicity will always trump extravagance. That's exactly how Preview girl Andi Eigenmann stood out on a star-studded and designer-filled red carpet of the 69th Cannes International Film Festival.
Making a splash in Southern France to represent our country in the main competition, Andi was spotted along with her mom Jacyln Jose and director of their movie Ma Rosa, Brillante Mendoza. This is the first time Brillante made it to the main competition and Andi's first appearance at the annual extravaganza. But already she managed to get people talking.
Andi landed herself a spot on Vanity Fair’s list of Best Dressed Celebrities looking super fresh in an all-white Patty Ang two-piece ensemble. “It’s a lunch time event that’s why Andi and I decided to do pants instead so that she could be comfortable. I wanted something simple, fresh, yet shouts effortless elegance.” According to the designer, they only started working on the look two weeks before Andi’s departure to France. While others may have scrambled and panicked at such a short time to make an outfit for such a big event, Patty said it was not a problem because Andi is very easy to work with. “She’s not picky at all and trusts and believes us designers,” she shares.
For the red carpet event, Andi rocked an equally simple yet stunning custom-made blush Boom Sason gown.
In Boom’s Instagram post she revealed that Andi specifically requested for blush as it's her favorite color.“When Andi asked me to design her gown for Cannes, we started with three options but it all came down to one thing, she wanted to look elegant and effortless. Andi has a very strong personality so we wanted to give that subtle softness and elegance when she walked on the red carpet.” To say that this number was special is an understatement because according to Boom, she hand carried the beaded Italian lace that was hand sewn from one of her trips just for her gown.
