If at first you don’t succeed, try again. This must have been what pushed young designer Mike Tidalgo to give the Look of Style Awards (an annual design showcase put together by LOOK magazine, Inqirer Lifestyle, and the British Council) a second shot after previously joining in 2014. Keeping with the theme, I am a Filipino designer, Mike emerges as this year’s winner with his capsule collection that puts a young cosmopolitan spin on traditional ethic weaving by incorporating it into tailored trench coats.

Our initial thoughts: “Very Burberry with a hint of Igorot.” It’s just the perfect combo seeing that his grand prize just happens to be a full 3-week short course at Instituto Marangoni London. Perhaps he can swing by the Burberry café and sketch up his next collection there.
