Fluidity, graceful construction, dramatic draping in slinky fabrics in subdued tones—these are the hallmarks of Cebu-bred fashion designer Vania Romoff's latest collection called Fluid. The same characteristics could be used to define her design aesthetic now as a budding designer (she made the cut to Preview's Ten Designers to Watch this year), and will no doubt be the same trademarks that will individuate her from the rest of the country's fashion design flock in the following years.
These beautifully draped jersey garments in colorblocked, mercurial tones echo the curves and lines of the female form, and swing and sway in elegant accompaniment to the their wearer's graceful movements. Through these pieces Vania exhibits a constructive maturity and tasteful design aptitude that guarantees good commercial tidings for her and her blossoming design business. (The designs will be available starting this month in Carbon.)
This young designer—a beautiful creature in her own right—was born into a family of fashion-involved personas, so it's no wonder that she takes to designing so naturally and seemingly effortlessly. But she has continuously worked hard to achieve the recognition Preview is bestowing her now, and we have no doubt that acclaim for her will rise some more.
