PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK SPRING/SUMMER 2013 DAY 7: Cignal presents Colours Gala - LESLEY MOBO
The London-based designer ended PHFW on a high note with a majestic show for society’s elite.
A certain kind of magic filled the south as SM Arena held it’s very first fashion shindig—a glittering party in culmination of our country’s week-long celebration of sartorial artistry. Headlining the gala is no other than Lesley Mobo, the Aklan-born designer whose works garnered international acclaim and made it to the closets of Hollywood hotshots like Anne Hathaway, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga.
Starting off with an avante-garde fashion film by Adrian Calumpang, Lesley's theatrical presentation took over the arena's stage area, which had an ethereal set-up replete with dream-like tulle canopies and candlelight. Like romantic wanderer out in the wilderness, models simultaneously floated around the huge four-corner runway swathed in fluffy meringues of tulle, lace, and chiffon that felt young and effortless. Easy luxury was brought to the fore with soft beaded gowns that showed a perfect representation of urban elegance. Although dominated by immaculate whites and fierce blacks, Lesley’s 45-piece collection was given a colorful twist with a few jewel-toned and pastel frocks that left the audience in awe.
