PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK SPRING/SUMMER 2013 DAY 1: L'Oréal Paris presents ALBERT ANDRADA, EZRA SANTOS
Two Dubai masters came home to showcase their spectacular pieces for summer. From frocks bathed in the sugary frothiness of pastels to gilded armor fused with soft textured fabrics, these two designers set the standard to world-class couture.
It was a dreamy affair to say the least: Far from his previous collection with major Oriental references, the royal designer took a more feminine route this time around with beautifully articulated pastel-hued creations. Pleated long gowns, shift dresses dripping in pearls, and fluid frocks in ultra-luxe lace kept us at the edge of our seats. Menswear pieces followed suit, with crisp white blazers paired with powder pink trousers (very Chuck Bass, yes?) perfect for a classy brunch setting. Without a doubt, Albert’s collection was a sweet treat for the girly-girl at heart.
When Ria Bolivar came out in golden part-angel-part-swan armor, we knew we were in for an extravagant treat. As expected, Ezra did not disappoint, as models sashayed down the runway in dresses with a fashion-meets-fantasy flair. Aside from the gilded elements, we also adored the mirror appliques set against tissue-thin fabric—such a winning combination of power and grace. Indeed, each piece was refreshingly modern and nothing short of fabulous, a style that Ezra calls his own.
