Designer Spotlight: Michael Cinco

Designer Spotlight: Michael Cinco
Anne Curtis' embellished noir ball gown was one of the scene-stealers at the recent Star Magic Ball, hands-down. We know you're wondering: who do we have to thank for this glamorous flashback to old Hollywood? The culprit, ladies and gents, is none other than Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco.

You're in luck! Since Michael is on Preview's Designers to Watch list (as seen in Preview's September issue), we made sure to shoot a few Q's his way in order to get to know this charmed couturier a little bit better:

What is style?
"Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style."

What is your design aesthetic?

"Classy and fabulous!"

Who are your more well-known clients?
"I don't have well-known clients but I'm very well-known to them. I've dressed Naomi Campbell and Dita von Teese for editorial shoots in Dubai."

What is one of your favorite creations?
"The black '50s inspired ball gown I made for Anne Curtis for the recent Star Magic Ball made from layers and layers of impalpable tulle. I made it in 48 hours. There was no fitting; the dress arrived the night before the event, but she looked fabulous and she was awarded the most glamorous woman in the event.

What are you wearing today?
"A Missoni shirt, jeans, Louis Vuitton bag, Prada shoes and Balenciaga glasses."

If you had no limitations, what would you like to be wearing today?
"An Hermes leopard fur coat during summer in the desert."

What is the movie that best describes your life?
"Sunset Boulevard. Why? I'm ready for my close-up!"

What was the last book you read?
"I don't read books; I read fashion magazines."

What is the first thing you do when you get up?
"Look out my window and check my super hunky european neighbor who is always having coffee in his balcony in his underwear."

What is the last thing you do before going to sleep?"
"I pray and thank God for all the blessings."
