Promising bridal couturier Catherine Cavilte has launched her Fall 2017 collection, Krustallos, at the Tadhana 2017 fashion show gala.

Set in The Manila Hotel's aptly grand milieu, Krustallos opened the entire show with a selection of seven intricately designed couture offerings for the unconventional bride. Inspired by the textures of nature’s gems, each gown exudes the awe and fascination large crystals tend to drawbe it snowflakes, diamonds, or even table salt. The collection’s name (which happens to be the Greek word from which the term "crystal" was derived, btw), is meant to embody the odd magic spun by a woman’s nerve-wracking, life-changing decision to say "I do."

“I love playing up textures inspired by nature. Crystals could be seen as icy yet magical. I want this collection to show one of nature’s quiet miraclesthe forming of crystals from ice. I want this collection to be just that to a bridea calming yet magical phase in her life represented by her wedding dress. I want this collection to be seen as whimsical and magical,” Catherine shares.

Fun fact: in 2007, Catherine landed in the pages of Preview and joined the magazine's roster of 12 Designers to Watch Out For. Two years later, she sent a collection down the runway at Australian Fashion Week and soon after started venturing into business, sharing her fashion know-how with local retail giants Memo, Folded & Hung, and Jellybean.

But back to the present we go. “For this collection, I used [an] embossed, hand-beaded technique [to create] each piece. I used 3D flower patches and embroidery to add a more feminine touch into the collection. I added tassel details to inject modern trends, too,” Catherine says of her Fall 2017 line.
