Designer Spotlight: Carlo Garcia Find out all about local accessory brand Carabao Crafts and the man behind it.

Who: Carlo Samson Garcia

From: Ars Sutoria Milano, pattern maker/shoe stylist

Worked under: Cardams, Inc.

Carabao Crafts is all about: renewable materials, timeless design, and great craftmanship.

We started: developing the brand four years ago. I gathered my old workers and trained them with a different approach.

Clothing people since: 2012.

Carabao Crafts is for: everybody who wants to feel what luxury bags and shoes feel like—the smell, accessories, hardware, hand-woven, hand-sewn and handmade [elements].

We are different because: our craftmanship and workers are dedicated in producing well made products.. [We] are attentive to details and flaws.

We are inspired by: my family. My lolo got me into pattern-making at a young age. I travel a lot with my mother as well. I love to surf as well.

We like to be: a brand seen in international airports.

We are proud of: being featured in the Philippine Star, and of our consignment agreements in Discovery Shores.

We've been worn by: JM Rodriguez and Tim Yap.

Wear us if: you are not brand-conscious and would like to try something different and locally made and sourced.

This new collection: boasts of hand-weaving and natural elements.

We use: genuine leather, brass accessories, YKK zippers, coconut fibers, airplane tires, abaca, and molded carabao sole for the sole of the shoes.

Watch out for: more hand-woven bags and shoes.
