WHICH ASPECT OF THE DESIGN PROCESS DO YOU ENJOY MOST?
I really enjoy putting stones together, combining colors, and seeing how the combinations turn out. So, it's the creative process, handling the materials myself.
WHAT'S THE BEST CLOTHING ITEM/ACCESSORY WOMEN/MEN SHOULD HAVE?
Jewelry! It always adds an extra something to the outfit, even to the most casual getups. And I also believe that a nice perfume or cologne is a great accessory for both women and men. Oversized sunglasses add some oomph as well.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GARMENT OR FASHION ACCESSORY?
I love anything that sparkles. It can be an entire dress, my shoes, or of course my jewelry. But if I had to narrow it down, it would have to be my favorite pair of Tiffany diamond earrings. I never leave the house without it. I just feel naked without earrings. And my mom's vintage Rolex watch.
ANY CURRENT TRENDS THAT YOU'RE FOND OF? ANY CURRENT OBSESSIONS?
I'm currently obsessed with maxi dresses. I was usually all about short cocktail dresses, but now I love long, flowy dresses or gowns.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR CAREER?
Well, before designing jewelry, I was (and still am) helping run our family business. We have a restaurant and a bar in Cebu, and we're also into distribution. Since my jewelry business is just kicking off, I'd say I'm most proud of the events I've organized for our establishment. I plan to combine the two very soon by having a jewelry show in my bar.
WHAT IS THE GREATEST COMPLIMENT YOU HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT YOUR WORK?
I love the look in people's eyes when they see the pieces for the first time. If a customer likes a piece, they look a bit hypnotized for a while.
WHAT ASPECT OF DESIGN DO YOU SEEK TO MASTER/HAVE DEVOTED TIME TO MASTER?
I hope to learn how to do the dirty work and set the stones myself someday soon. Right now, I get help from very talented silversmiths.
