In the tropical heat of our country, we can never have enough pretty, flowing dresses to dally in while we go about our usual daily activities. We also can never have enough eye-catching swimsuits to cavort in whenever we frequent the multitude of glorious beaches our archipelago is blessed with.
So it's just timely that Arleen Sipat of Salsatrends and Azucar just replenished her clothing lines with vividly printed strapless and halter maxis, and striking cut-out maillots in which we can enjoy the balmy Philippine summer.
She tells us, “With the tropical heat, I want my collection to be 'cooling' and colorful,” hence her usage of a multihued pastel color palette and billowy fabrics for Azucar. “Summer is also about traveling to different places, so a subtheme of the collection is a tribal and bohemian look,” which is apparent in the embroidery touches in her pieces for Salsatrends.
She kept her collection affordable by mixing silks and jerseys in one gown. She also mixed formal beaded gowns with soft flowing materials either in longer or shorter silhouettes.
Asked about her target clientele, she answers, “I am happy for a wide selection of clientele to wear my creations. I try to keep my designs and costs at an affordable range. The collection is sexy and sophisticated, with a special focus on prints and accessories. I want it to be attractive both to younger and mature buyers who want to look classy within a budget.”
