It was an evening of fashion, music, and whimsy at the Prive Fashion Series featuring Hindy Weber-Tantoco for Culte Femme. Guests went culte crazy as they were treated to an extensive program which featured a slew of male models, pole dancing, a Lady Gaga rendition, a photo exhibit by Marc Nicdao (of the muses), a behind-the-scenes video of the big photoshoot by Christian Acuna, and a mini fashion show which included the Culte Femme and Rustan's muses.
Hindy explains the motive behind this elaborate production. "I wanted to inject it with entertainment so you not only see the clothes, but you feel the whole vibe of our collection. Fashion is fantasy. So for this one night, I wanted people to escape and release and enjoy." Of the muses Hindy comments: “I wanted vibrant women who exude a love for life and have a unique sense of style and who aren't afraid to try something new".
This latest collection is edgy, yet manages to be undeniably sophisticated as well. “The underlying aesthetic is still the same—it's chic, elegant but with an edge. This is the glam rock side of the Culte Femme woman and she's working a punk-elegant vibe this season,” she adds. “Grace Kelly in an S&M movie,” says Hindy of her inspiration for the collection. Purely by first impression, that sounds like the sort of unexpected match up that gives a Culte gal that extra bite.
The dresses' avant-garde appeal is balanced with touches of brushed brass pieces made by jewelry designer Tara Soriano, whose pieces are exclusively available at Rustan's. “Hindy wanted it to look rough and edgy, so she chose pieces which looked crumpled and ones that had lace on it. I then tarnished it to give it a not-so-new effect,” shares Tara. For this particular collection, Tara's pieces can be found within the Culte Femme section of the department store.
