Those Zucca Fs and telltale CDs are more than just letters: They're status symbols! Below, four other luxury monograms that, though a tad bit rarer to spot right now, are bound to take the spotlight in the coming seasons. Veer ahead of the curve, honey.
Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga shocked the fashion world when he abruptly shut down his maison in 1968, claiming that he had "no one left to dress." It wasn't true—loyal clients included Diana Vreeland, Grace Kelly, and an assortment of real-life queens from Spain and Belgium—but perhaps it was this sudden decision that spurned an outpouring of demand for his creations, therefore making his signature beyond desirable. The mirrored double B is back courtesy of new creative director Demna Gvasalia, who's emblazoned it on Knife pumps, chain belts, and enormous clip-on earrings.
Arguably the former's most famous protégé was Hubert de Givenchy, who founded his own namesake house in 1952 and began a legandary muse-and-master relationship with actress Audrey Hepburn just a year later. Recent memory has seen that boxy quadruple G emblem subtly etched on the roomy Nightingale tote's handles and not much else, but that may or may not change in the near future. Keep an eye out.
Coach has gone through quite the modern makeover thanks to current creative head Stuart Vevers, and it's easy to say that the American brand is coveted by the cool kids yet again. See those Cs? You're gonna want to fish 'em out of your mom's '90s stash soon, because for Spring/Summer 2019, Coach is spinning several archival styles your way. A classic if there ever was one, we think. Phoebe Philo's Celine of 2014 had us all dreaming of structured minimalism and the cleanest of lines, but before her tenure came the French label's elaborate horse-and-carriage monogram. While it looks like the brand—now helmed by Hedi Slimane following Phoebe's exit—is straying from its understated aesthetic, we're hoping to see a number of tasteful, subdued ways they might reinvent the old logo.
