Known for its fringes, thimble-like hardware, and super soft leather, the Lariat, or the "Motorcycle bag" as it came to be known, almost never hit it off after then creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere's bosses called the original version too far out for the brand. He made just 25 to begin with and handed them to the models at his show. After Kate Moss was spotted trotting one around London, people started following wanting to get their hands on one.
The Lariat later on evolved into the City, Town, and Velo with large and small versions in different colors and hardware. Today, the various styles the line has to offer still remain to be the brand’s top sellers as they easily sell-out in botiques.
