Luminaries of the Philippine entertainment scene took the spotlight at the 2026 Dekada Awards last October 4. A special edition of the annual Golden Screen Awards hosted by the Multi-Media Press Society of the Philippines, the ceremony recognized actors who have played culturally resonant roles over the past decade.
Among the honorees was Kapuso mainstay Dennis Trillo, who was recognized for not just one, but two characters in his body of work. He accepted both trophies in a personalized Paulo Lazaro barong, styled by AJ Alberto.

Named Best Actor for his performances in Felix Manalo (2015) and Green Bones (2024), Dennis looked every bit the debonair in a modern iteration of our national dress. The barong tagalog retained its traditional silhouette but stood out with custom embroidery that nodded to Dennis’ career and personal life. Film strips ran across the front and back, while twinkling symbols were scattered throughout the piece.

Some of the personal insignia on the bespoke piece included a bird, a symbol of his titular role in Felix Manalo, as well as a cat representing his and wife Jennylyn’s shared affinity for felines. However, what hit home the most were the names of his family members embroidered on the back. “Jennylyn, Calix, Dylan, Jaz,” the embroidery read. How sweet!
Congrats on the well-deserved recognition, Dennis!
