Preview’s October 2012 cover celebrates two things: homegrown (now global) lifestyle and clothing brand Bench’s 25th anniversary and the chic nonchalance that comes with the pairing of denim jeans and a white tank.
Taking inspiration from English actress and singer Jane Birkin (whose encounter with Jean-Louis Dumas, Hermes’s chief exec at the time, inspired the creation of the iconic Hermes Birkin bag) the Preview team decided to do a little denim dressing for the 14 cover girls and Bench muses: Karylle, Isabelle Daza, Georgina Wilson, Jessy Mendiola, Kathryn Bernardo, Sarah Lahbati, Melai Cantiveros, Shaina Magdayao, Iya Villania, Carla Abellana, Angeline Quinto, Janine Gutierrez, Bella Padilla, and Grace Lee.
The October cover is only one of the many "Bench-marks" the brand has with the magazine—from a June 2006 rock romance-inspired cover to a bohemian-themed August 2005 spread to a magazine insert last April that takes the reader on a historic journey of the brand's iconic moments in the industry.
Preview’s cover story features short profiles of the Bench muses and an unearthing of sorts, as Leah Puyat talks about Bench’s heart and soul, what makes it distinctly Filipino, and the man who beheld his brainchild 25 years ago, Ben Chan.
