Mark Bumgarner's mastery of his craft has earned him a loyal clientele within and beyond the Philippines. The Filipino designer's shape-shifting silhouettes and unique referential codes could easily wrap themselves around any muse, regardless of their place of origin.
Such was the case for Thai darling Davika Hoorne, who has become a close collaborator of Mark since the onset of this year. A couple of weeks after flying into Manila to witness his groundbreaking 65-piece collection, the actress proudly donned one of his works to an event in Bangkok.

Like a deity rising from the sea, Davika was swathed in a pale blue ensemble that showed off her best assets. A sheer, halter-neck bodysuit exposed the sides of her torso with open sides, and attached to it was a cascading train done in a glossy silk material.
In a quick chat with Preview, Mark says that this was one of the Thai star's favorite looks from his recent show, adding that she snapped several photos of it on the runway. Unlike most of the pieces in the selection, this dress is distinguished by its corset-free bodice, and yet, it still represents Mark's direction for his brand, which is "sexy, young, and chic, yet carefully constructed."
Fun fact: The exact piece Davika wore was actually plucked straight off the catwalk with zero alterations. "I'm so happy it fit her like a glove! She's really like a living mannequin," the designer expresses. "And she is so easy to work with. She knows what she wants and is very particular with her choices, especially when it comes to the fit."

Like many, Mark has long been a witness to Davika's style evolution, as documented on her Instagram account. So one could imagine how thrilling it was when she shot him a message early in 2025. "She reached out to me and we started messaging back and forth," Mark narrates. What followed was a trip to Thailand to shoot Davika wearing two custom Filipiniana looks, which was the actress' way of connecting with her Filipino fans.
"It was super exciting for our little atelier to get a request from someone we admire,' Mark gushes, adding that their collaborations are only getting started. Here's to seeing more of his work on Davikah!
