Along with an impeccably styled head-to-toe designer look, it’s almost mandatory for street style stars and editors to be photographed every fashion week with an It bag nestled in the crook of their arm. Anyone who is anyone simply needs to have a piece of arm candy to punctuate their look, and not just any purse will do. It then raises the question, what makes a bag an “It bag?”

Apart from being toted around by celebrities and style stars, more than anything else, there needs to be a demand or a high level of desirability for a purse to become an It bag. Such is the case for Danse Lente (a name which translates to slow dance in French), a London-based up-and-coming brand that features clean-cut and structured designs. One of its stockists, Moda Operandi, noted on their site that the brand sold more units than any other handbag label on its first day on the site. At the moment, some units are sold out, some styles are selling out fast, while some are still on a pre-order basis. On Net-a-Porter, another stockist, all units are sold out and you will have to wait for an indefinite amount of time until stocks are replenished. As for the brand’s main website, you will also have to pre-order. Given its Birkin-esque availability, doesn’t it just make you desire it even more?

The trend with covetable purses for the past few years is that all have had that minimalist aesthetic and barely-there branding—making it a perfect style to own since it doesn’t dictate the wearer’s aesthetic. Sleek, architecture-inspired and with a highly competitive price point, it’s not hard to see why Danse Lente immediately resonated with fashion girls. For the current season, we just have this strong feeling that It girls everywhere will be carrying a Danse Lente.
