Super typhoon Yolanda got every Filipino wounded in various forms, but for young designer Tipay Caintic, the pain was, and still is, a lot stronger. Born and raised in Tacloban, the 25-year old experienced the worst tragedy of her life, which fueled her creative mind to come up with a compelling collection composed of six looks that represent the different stages she personally went through during the typhoon.
Dubbed as "Hell Knows No Fury Like Yolanda," Tipay's collection for the International Fashion Showcase in London garnered a lot of praise from the British set, earning her a spot in CNN, no less! Watch her feature with Mylene Klass here:
"The genuine appreciation is overwhelming," shares Tipay. "Random people, even CNN, were very impressed that I start with the words, wih writing before I sketch. During the awarding pictorial, Sarah Mower of US Vogue squeezed in between me and Adante and told me that she remembered the story of the collection the other day, and that it was beautiful."
Way to go, Tipay! We are so happy for you!
