I remember in the early 2000s when platform thong sandals were everywhere. I had pairs in neutral colors to match my baguette bags. I loved the platform flip-flops coolness, plus the height boost they gave me. They also looked so good with my baggy cargo pants and maxi apron dress. Yep, I lived through the era when the Y2K aesthetic was born, the trend Gen Z people have been obsessing over.
As I was browsing my IG Explore page and stalking stylish influencers, I noticed the obsession with chunky thong sandals seemed to back. Although the micro trend has evolved from what it was in the 2000s: There are those with thick straps while some are even padded! They look super comfy as opposed to last year's popular shoe, sandals with skinny straps. The shape and straps of chunky sandals provide support for your feet with every stride.
Check out how they styled the Y2K footwear staple here!
