The city of love!

A certain kind of dark romance has taken hold with Chris Nick’s collection with silken gowns and suits in somber shades of scarlet, muted gold and classic black. He drew inspiration from two things—Paris, undeniably his favorite city in the world, and Audrey Hepburn, his number one style icon. Audrey Hepburn’s gamine charm and classic beyond belief look as well as the effortlessly chic fashion sense of Parisians have been the ultimate style inspirations to a lot of women for many years now.  By merging the two, the audience gets consumed into a show of timeless elegance and a touch of calculated fashion risks—little black dresses with creative draping, a bit of skin, and powerful tailoring.

The collection is a soirée of classic, yet contemporary evening looks. Featuring fascinating creations created entirely with the fine manipulation of a volume of fabric, Chris Nick’s dresses are essentially couture. With a combination of menswear gestures and feminine touches, the show exquisitely rendered Parisian chic. There are classic tuxedos in luxurious satin, dresses exploding with wild yardages of fabric, bold sheer tops and high-necked gowns that are mysteriously elegant and not at all matronly. While some catwalks feature a riot of color, texture, prints and different fabrics, it’s also refreshing to see something a little more subtle. For example, classic black dresses. As a sort of uniform for all women of taste, the simple black dress will never die. A firm favorite of the fashion world, little black dresses have come back over and over again in different iterations over the decades. You might think that there’s something a little safe about LBDs, but Chris Nick believes otherwise. His favorite piece from the collection would be a structured black, long sleeved and high-neck evening gown. For him, it’s the epitome of a Chris Nick woman—powerful, elegant, and undeniably chic in black.
