Haute couture, in all its decadent glory, is blood, sweat, and tears. A single sumptuous frock can take nearly 1000 hours to create—300 for the bodice alone, 400 for a cape, and a seeming infinity just to hand-embellish. 50 feet of light-as-air tulle? Normal in this part of town (Paris, to be exact). So when Celine Dion was moved to actual tears by the pure magic that was Valentino's Spring 2019 Haute Couture collection, we realized that this is a woman who knows precisely how to appreciate fashion.
Now we can't imagine being any less reverent. Front row at Armani Prive, Celine had stars in her eyes while watching each model saunter by, even mouthing the words "je ne sais pas" in a mix of bewilderment and awe.
Here she is, totally and visibly stunned by the majesty of Alexandre Vauthier:
In a world where nonchalance is deemed the cool thing, she's the best exception ever. We love you, Celine!
