Cary & John: A Family Affair

Here at Style Bible, we honor motherliness of all sorts, particularly the kind that fosters creativity, nourishes talent, and nurtures a flourishing personal growth. Last Sunday we all paid tribute to our beautiful moms who have selflessly served as our life's cornerstones. They've nurtured us, taken care of us, supported us, and helped us every step of the way to become the persons we are now.

But now it's time to pay tribute to a different sort of guardianship—also a sort of motherhood, if you will—one that some very lucky souls are very fortunate to benefit from. We're talking about mentorship, a relationship that has the same sense of guidance as motherhood, and also entails the same sense of enduring bond.

We've spoken to the formidable “mother and son” pairing of master designer Cary Santiago and his extremely talented protégé John Herrera to learn about their invulnerable relationship. We've discovered that Cary's mentorship of John goes beyond the technical necessities of being a creative mentor and has transcended into a familial bond, through which they've explored a deeper connection based on mutual respect and affection.
