How Carla And Sam Humphries Share A Closet In Style

How to wear one piece, two ways? Let the sisterhood of the Humphries teach you.
How Carla And Sam Humphries Share A Closet In Style How to wear one piece, two ways? Let the sisterhood of the Humphries teach you.

Life is so much more fun with a sister. Yes, there’s (a lot of) fighting involved—like the weekly debate on who's getting mom’s vintage Chanel or when a favorite Zara skirt goes missing—but isn’t that what sisters do? Instead of driving each other crazy (which is normal, BTW), why not focus on the up side? Ladies, having a sister basically means a doubled closet size.

To that end, let Carla and Sam Humphries—one, a rock ‘n’ roll-blasting model with a Brit style sensibility, the other, a showbiz actress with an old soul—demonstrate the art of the timeshare.

PIECE #1: THE FOLK JACKET

"We were told this jacket belonged to a famous singer,” quips Sam. “We got it in Ventimiglia, Italy,” offers Carla. While the elder wears it like a Hollywood ingenue, Sam captures the prairie-girl nonchalance of Jane Birkin.

PIECE # 2: THE ROCK TEE

Pink Floyd stirs a shared nostalgia. “On road trips, our dad would play rock records to teach us about the greats.” Carla styles it à la girl/boy, with a slit skirt (but with a blazer), plus a fedora from Cannes. Sam, though, goes full rock-chick, through and through.

PIECE #3: THE MICRO SHORTS

Body types play a huge role in making one piece look vastly different on either sister. Carla’s curves play well to a scarf print and Milanese styling on one hand, while Sam’s boyish frame fits a model-off-duty’s sportif uniform.
