Three months after Super Typhoon Yolanda wreaked havoc in the Philippines, badly affected provinces like Leyte and Samar are still struggling to recover from the devastation. Many are still homeless; food, water, and electricity are still a problem; several remain jobless and children are unable to continue their education. If anything, the heart-breaking aftermath of this calamity has urged a great number of concerned citizens to lend a hand and help in the best way, any way, they can. One of them is filmmaker Joanna Vasquez Arong, founder of Old Fool Films.

Joanna has decided to put up Eskwela Haiyan, a scholarship program that aims to support students affected by the typhoon and “encourage their return to school.” As an initial step, Joanna has partnered with London-based French-Filipino illustrator Emma Farrarons in creating the design of a canvas bag that will be sold to help raise funds for this long-term initiative. It's not just any canvas bag, it's a bag that serves multiple purposes.

To support this cause, simply purchase a bag or two—it’s useful, sturdy, and can help support the education of many children. Place your orders at eskwelahaiyan@gmail.com. No act of kindness is ever too small and wasted.
