Christmas arrives early thanks to Burberry’s latest holiday campaign entitled “The Tale of Thomas Burberry.” They produced a three-minute short film centered around the house’s founder, Thomas Burberry, played by Domhall Gleeson. It touches on the highlights of his life leading to what Burberry is now. From inventing weatherproof gabardine that made its trench coats an icon to his stint dressing the British military, the film also features Sienna Miller as his first love and pilot Betty Dawson portrayed by Lily James.
Directed by Asif Kapadia, CEO and designer Christopher Bailey debuts the short film coinciding with the brand’s 160th anniversary. “The film we have made is a brief glimpse inspired by his full and extraordinary life, which threaded its way through the history of the 20th century in all its tumultuous highs and lows,” Bailey says in a statement. “His spirit and his vision are still at the heart of everything we do at Burberry today.”
Watch the short film below and find out why we believe it deserves a full-length movie. Enjoy!
