Brooklyn Beckham is a quiet enigma many Filipinos are intrigued by. Apart from being the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, there's not much that we know about him. But as I was given the chance to interview Brooklyn on his first visit to Manila, it's easy to tell that he's as passionate as his parents are when it comes to art and fashion—perhaps even about food. In fact, upon learning that he's visiting the country, his dad urged him to "Walk around. Walk around with my camera and to try the food." To which, he obediently complied as evidenced by his latest Instagram posts.

His interests include photography as demonstrated by his book, What I See, which collates his work from about five years ago. He shares, "My photography is still evolving. I'm still trying to decide what I enjoy the most. But right now, I'm doing a lot more of fashion and street photography." He notes that he looks up the most to photographer Steven Meisel. "He's amazing. I'm trying to follow his footsteps with the natural lighting and all that."

But while Brooklyn is on his way to figuring out his style as a photographer, he seems to already have a good grasp of his personal sartorial sense. Truth be told, he is aware of how he dresses differently when he's in London or in New York. "So when I'm in London, I turn into a  Peaky Blinders guy. [Wearing] very high-waisted bottoms, kinda scruffy as well. So I don't shave or anything like that," Brooklyn says. "But when I'm in New York, I'm just very skater. [I wear] either skinny bottoms or baggy bottoms."

Thus, being naturally in sync with Bench's easy style, Brooklyn's partnership with the local brand seemed to have been written in the stars. "When I first got into the brand," Brooklyn narrates, "I was just wearing one of the t-shirts I got sent. So I was wearing it when I was skateboarding. I had no idea what it was, and then I started to do some research. I bought some bottoms online, and they're just very comfy and fit in with my style—you know, very skater and simple and easy."

The budding photographer even divulged his favorites from Bench. "I love these bottoms [black jeans]. I have a few pairs of these bottoms that I love to wear." And when asked about the one outfit he'd love to wear over and over, "Probably that pink tracksuit. It looks cool and it's very comfy."

But perhaps what sets him apart from other stylish men is his belief in the power of accessorizing. Whether Brooklyn is out attending events or skating, his nonchalant style is never without accessories. "I wear these [rings, cuffs and watch] everyday, even for events."

Most importantly, he values his own voice. He mentions that he's not an avid follower of trends. But his most surprising revelation would have to be his subtle disregard of his parents' well-intentioned style notes. "I have always been around fashion because of my mom," Brooklyn says. "My mom and dad's style have changed a lot. My mom and dad tell me 'oh, you shouldn't wear that; you should wear that' but it's my decision. I wear everything."

It seems like when it comes to style, Brooklyn abides by the never say never, rule—the true mark of a fashion-inclined young man, ready to step out of his parents' equally stylish shadows.
