Sisters Karen and Janlee Dungca made a patriotic statement in twinning ternos!

A stylish wedding entourage is impossible to ignore—online and offline. After all, it’s always a treat to see a group of beautiful, well-coordinated, and chic set of women walk down the aisle. Although, one member of the bridal squad often stands out among the rest: the Maid of Honor. And for publicist Janlee and her sister Karen Dungca, they made sure they stood equally as stunning side by side when the other said "I do."

"The theme of the wedding was Filipiniana so we thought of wearing twinning terno dresses," Janlee tells Preview. To avoid being overly-matchy, though, they went for the same exact silhouette in a different length and color. Karen opted for a traditional Filipiniana silhouette in white for her bridal gown, while Janlee chose went for a bright orange, tea-length frock that definitely turned heads.

Karen's bridal gown gave off a princessy feel compared to Janlee's vibrant midi. It also featured a subtle bow at the back!

Janlee accessorized with gold jewelry to match the warmth of her dress. This is a contrast to Karen's choice of diamonds.

According to Janlee, her terno dress was inspired by what attendees usually wear during the State of the Nation Address (SONA). "I've always loved midi skirts and dresses. I think they're chic with just the right amount of restraint," she added. "And since I didn't want to take the spotlight away from my sister, I opted for a midi dress."

In case you're wondering, Janlee and Karen worked with designer Koko Gonzales of LightShineWhite (@lsw_ph) to create their dream twinning moment. "It was definitely a collaborative effort and we loved how his design sensibilities made the garments really amazing!"

True enough, the sisters were a vision in these twinning gowns that still kept to their own personal styles. We also love the fact that the dresses had detachable sleeves—talk about versatile!

Filipiniana wedding dresses and ternos have definitely gained popularity over the years. With celebrities like Jess Wilson tying the knot in a bespoke terno and more real women opting to say "I do" in our national dress, the terno has never been more timeless. Meanwhile, local designers like Vania Romoff, Randolf Clothing, and veteran couturier JC Buendia are constantly reinventing the style to make the Filipiniana as relevant as ever.

Tea-length dresses like Janlee's are also nothing new for weddings—even for the brides. Audrey Hepburn famously wore a midi-dress by Hubert de Givenchy to one of her weddings, while personalities like Jessy Mendiola and Vern Enciso have also opted for this cut when they tied the knot.

Overall, the Dungca sisters are proof that matching with your sis isn’t about stealing the spotlight away from the other, but celebrating that sibling love on a special day with a stylish twist!
