ProudRace is a young label brewed by two vastly different but equally great minds: an industrial engineer and a t-shirt designer. Combined, you get a mix of dark, brooding, futuristic and a little bit playful label.
In 2008, the duo launched an online store to sell t-shirts and eventually decided to make it a full-time online shop with their first Spring-Summer 2009 collection.
ProudRace found a common ground for their aesthetic—basic yet complicated, clean but edgy, interesting and a bit kooky at times. It is sportswear futuristic, coherent but definitely wearable.
“I think our sense of humor and our understanding of what is campy and cliché set us apart; and our pieces are easy to incorporate into an existing wardrobe. It can stand alone or can be with other clothing,” says one of the owners.
From jackets to tank tops, trousers and dresses and skirts, most of the brand's pieces are gender-neutral. It also tries to come up with accessories every season that relate to the current collection.
ProudRace plays around with the elements of their materials and design. It's all about the
use of different materials, textures, details and silhouettes to come out with pieces that are unique and subscribe to no particular style.
Its latest collection is fascinatingly themed after the turbulent times of the '90s icons.
Pulling their inspiration from the '80s and the '90s, the brand has been creating provocative pieces that range from clothes that cling to the body, loose cotton tops, over-sized hooded sweats, patchwork leggings to the occasional hard textured jackets that remind you of battle armors.
Highly minimal, gender neutral and a little bit kooky, the colors vary from grey, black, white and beige with some prints thrown in to make the collection more interesting.
The label focuses in making gender-neutral clothes that match the fast paced lifestyle and this has been one of their inspirations since.
“Daredevils!” one of the owners shouts. The collection pretty much speaks for the kind of patrons ProudRace has—edgy and non-conformist.
Pieces range from P700 to P9000.
