Swimsuit shopping can be a tedious—and often, stressful—process. Ever tried on a handful of swimsuits only to look in the mirror and think, this isn't quite right? And no, it isn't your body; it could be that the cut, silhouette, size, or even color of a bathing suit simply isn't working for you.
There are certain styles that work best for each body type, and what better way to learn more about that than Boom Sason, the Filipino designer behind the sultry, well-fitted, custom-made swimwear of celebs like Anne Curtis, Megan Young, and Solenn Heussaff, to name a few.
High-waisted bikinis, for starters, are extremely flattering on petite ladies. "For [women] with short legs, I really like high cuts. I always tell [my clients] to lift their bottoms higher," says Boom, explaining that the bottom of a bikini normally cuts a petite woman's frame by the waist, "lifting it up—even when you're wearing a one-piece—lengthens your legs."
"Don't be afraid to show off [your hips]," the designer adds.
Meanwhile, Boom also shared a swimsuit style that’s well-loved by her small-chested clients who still want to emphasize their décolletage. “I have bikinis that are cinched [at the bottom of the chest area] that create [and maximize every bit of volume in your] boobs,” referring to her label’s two piece-swimsuit called the Tasha. “You just have to know where to put the cinching and the lift," the designer points out.
Aside from the cut, “color is super important," notes Boom. “Jewel tones and other dark colors,” she says, are figure-flattering, as they streamline your look, giving you a sleeker effect.
