Blog: Hey Rio!
What made you want to try this trend?
I've always been a “warm tones” kind of gal. Some of my favorite colors actually fall under the brown-tan-orange palette so it was easy for me to appreciate Tangerine when it came out.
How do you build your outfit around it?
Since Tangerine is already bright and bold, I (usually) mix it up with duller shades. I like using it as an accent to my gray looks.
How do you make the look your own?
I use it boldly and match it up with sophisticated pieces. Then, I accessorize!
How do you balance your outfit to avoid making it look over-the-top?
By choosing deeper and darker pieces to go with it. For this look, I partnered my bright orange pants with a black collared top and a gray trench coat.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
1. Color Blocking. There are a lot of colors that would nicely match tangerine. Go bold and choose 2 more hues from the spectrum to make a colorful statement.
2. Wear it with prints. Go whimsical and pair your tangerine piece with any print that has hints of orange or dashes of warm tones.
3. Classic Style. Just like what I did, tone down the accent by partnering it more classic gray-toned pieces.
How would you wear it during the day, night, to a party, to work?
Day: These orange pants would do, with a simple plain white tee, a vest or light jacket, a nice pair of heels and orange lipstick.
Party: I'd opt to pop from the crowd and go for a solid Tangerine party dress.
Work: I'd wear a sophisticated black and white ensemble underneath a Tangerine blazer.
