Blog: It's Nikki
What made you want to try this trend?
Detachable collars are so fun and cute to wear. You can never go wrong wearing these. I just felt that it can go with almost any kind of look, whether it's a casual day outfit or even formal ensembles.
How do you build your outfit around it?
Since it's already the love month, I opted for something chic and feminine and played it with pastels and lace.
How do you make the look your own?
I have always been in love with pastel colors. So when I first tried on this trend, it definitely went perfectly well with my pastel colored ensembles and lace tops.
How do you balance your outfit to avoid making it look over-the-top?
I always remember that “less is more.” So an oversized gold watch, a pink pearl earrings and a simple pink clutch are the keys to create this look.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
There are different types, designs and patterns of detachable collars out there in the market right now (scallop collar, sequined, etc.) Just remember not to add anymore necklace to it. It's also great when paired with skirts, sheer collar-less tops and a Mary Jane pumps.
How would you wear it during the day, at night, to a party, to work?
Detachable collars are so versatile. It's an all around piece for any look. So for day, I would also wear this with a salmon pink sweater top, white crochet shorts, and a floral oxfords. For a party, it would go perfect with a ballerina-inspired dress, a pink clutch and pink glitter pumps.
