What made you want to try this trend?
I love collars! They can take your look to a whole new level.
How do you build your outfit around it?
Consider the cut and color of your top. It can work both ways, either make the collar blend in with your outfit or wear it for contrast.
How do you make the look your own?
I try to wear one when you least expect it. People always associate collars with preppy looks so why not update them a bit by pairing them with dresses and cuts you don't usually expect would go with collars.
How do you balance your outfit to avoid making it look over-the-top?
For this look, I made sure my collar had the same feel as my dress. It's dressy enough for the occasion because it's sequined, but I got it in white still so that it wouldn't look too out of place and it still blends well with my dress.
Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
Try to stay away from statement necklaces. You don't want your neck area to look too busy. If this trend is new to you, try pairing it with round neck blouses first. Play around with color. Try pastel with pastel or whites and blacks paired with neons.
How would you wear it during the day, at night, to a party, to work?
During the day, I'd wear a detachable printed collar with a cute pastel top and flowy skirt. During the night, I'd probably wear a plain detachable collar with a short shift dress and heels. To a party, a studded collar with a black ensemble and cool jacket. To work, a white detachable collar with a blush-colored blouse and white wide-leg trousers.
