Birkenstock sandals have become to some people—typically normcore enthusiasts or laid-back dressers—the kind of year-round staples that white lace-ups and plain ballet flats have become for others. Through decades of craftsmanship, the German footwear brand has perfected their signature casual-cool aesthetic, most notably with popular slip-on styles like the Arizona, the Madrid, and the Gizeh. But did you know the brand also makes sneakers? Yup, you can get that same minimalist-slash-unbothered look that Birkenstock is known for in a pair of lace-up kicks. Say hello to the Bend Low Sneakers.
The Bend Low is a leather sneaker with a no-frills silhouette, a just-thick-enough rubber sole, and clean, simple stitching all around. Inside, you’ll find a microfiber lining that promises comfort and support ideal for walking. But of course, you can’t have a Birkenstock shoe without their signature cork material on the footbed. Though you may not see it at first glance, the sneaker’s midsole is made of PU and cork, which work together for shock absorption. That means even on a closed, lace-up shoe, Birkenstock stays true to the footbed that gives it its distinct, instantly recognizable design. Plus, look closely and you’ll see that the cork material can be seen through a small cut on the back of the sole, adding a subtle touch of warmth and texture to the mostly plain shoe.
As of writing, you can get the sneakers in three colors. Go for the monochromatic all-white style if you still don't own enough ivory kicks or opt for the black pair—punctuated by a white sole—if you prefer darker sneakers. And in case neutral tones aren't your thing, you can also rock the Bend Low in a striking maroon.
You can get the Birkenstock Bend Low Sneakers in several stylish colors. Check them out:
The Bend Low sneaker is available at Birkenstock stores in SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, Alabang Town Center, Bonifacio High Street, and SM Aura Premier.
