All eyes were on President Rodrigo Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address this afternoon. As much as we were looking forward to the change within the nation, our attention was also glued to the much anticipated SONA red carpet. With the sudden change in dress code, we take a look at how the ladies have interpreted the attire and made it their own.
Heart Evangelista and Tootsy Angara have constantly aced the SONA red carpet over the years. And this year bears no difference. With Heart’s white lace number by Ivarluski Aseron and her off-the-rack Massimo Dutti suit, she automatically topped our list. The same goes with Tootsy’s green Rajo Laurel stunner, which we’re sure no one else could pull off but her. Gretchen’s Inno Sotto ensemble cleverly marries the business attire dress code with the traditional Filipiniana. We love how these two separates can work on their own and are still totally wearable after today’s events. For a split second there, we thought it was from a Dior collection!

We don’t need a full body shot to know Yedda’s outfit is a winner. Her Cary Santiago bow blouse is not only SONA-approved; it can also work from conference room to cocktails. Its modern cut and billowy sleeves give an update to the usual crisp white button-down. We can tell this top can pretty much go with any bottom in your wardrobe.
Clara Aseniero
Clara’s marsala frock gives a nod to her youth. She kept it fresh with a versatile straight-cut skirt that’s reminiscent of the ‘90s slip dress. Pairing it with a sheer crop top, she made it classy and totally modern.
