Annually, retail giant Bench collaborates with the Cultural Center of the Philippines for TernoCon, a competition where young designers reimagine the Philippine heritage ensemble. In this year's edition, vivid hues, deconstructed details, and fabric play all took center stage in the participants' works. Bearing witness to it all last January 29 were the industry's best dressed stars, who attended the event clad in their own takes on the local garb.
Ahead, we round up the 10 of our favorite celebrity looks from the Bench TernoCon 2023.
The Best Dressed Celebrities at Bench TernoCon 2023
1. Lovi Poe
A modern-day Maria Clara if we've ever seen one, Lovi Poe donned a pink two-piece terno by Martin Bautista. Adding some drama to the look was a train of embroidered yellow fabric and sculptural earrings.

2. Regine Velasquez
Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez was a vision in a hot pink frock that featured knotted detailing on the butterfly sleeves and on one side of the skirt. Looking dapper beside her is her husband and fellow singer Ogie Alcasid in his barong tagalog.

3. Ariella Arida
Former beauty queen Ariella Arida served drama in a pitch black mini dress with draped fabric. Teamed with it were a pair of color-coordinated Amina Muaddi heels.

4. Tim Yap
One of our Best Dressed gents Tim Yap referenced Mindanaoan textiles in a bomber jacket worn over an orange top and black wide-legged pants.

5. Small Laude
Light yellow is definitely Small Laude's color. The socialite donned the inviting pastel color via a floral baro't saya, with a mini Hermes Kelly clutched in her hands.

6. Lucy Torres and Richard Gomez
The Gomez power couple depicted a classic Filipino twosome in their OOTDs. Lucy, in particular, wore a chic take on a saya, elevated with gold leaf appliques.

7. Tweetie de Leon
The always-so-elegant Tweetie de Leon kept things simple yet stylish in a nudish pink Filipiniana blouse and black cigarette trousers.

8. Tessa Prieto
We can always count on Tessa Prieto to up the ante when it comes to her looks, and TernoCon was no different. The stylista grabbed everyone's attention with a blue fully-embroidered dress, complete with a fringe skirt and a feathery headpiece.

9. Mich Dulce
Designer Mich Dulce channeled a dominatrix with a leather peplum dress, punctuated with a glossy clutch and a bow adorning her curly locks.

10. Jamie Herrell
For her ensemble, Cebuana beauty Jamie Herrell tucked in an embroidered piña top into a high-waisted pair of black pants. Sleek and chic!
