Local clothing brand Bench debuts at New York’s Men’s Fashion Week for Spring 2017. In collaboration with independent brand Cadet (Anna Wintour previously mentored the brand, too!), Bench Body’s tropical-printed underwear collection was complemented with oversized shirts and summer jackets donned by ripped male models.
Twenty looks from Bench Body’s Forever Summer collection was presented in a one and a half hour tableau show inside Michelson Studios in the Big Apple.
Bench’s creative assistant Noel Manapat says, “The models will be arranged like a live editorial tableau while the audience is free to move around, like they’re watching an exhibit.” This is a far cry from the theatrical spectacle the brand puts up at their fashion shows in Manila.
Former model and now New York-based photographer Brent Chua cast the models while Ariel Lozada directed the whole show. Filipino guest models were included in the show like Paolo Roldan who also walked for Givenchy in 2010.
While this isn’t Bench’s first foreign show, their NYFW presentation marks tycoon Ben Chan’s realization of turning a local brand global.
He said in an interview:
"This is our first journey to NYC Fashion Week. It was not an easy road, but it's a dream come true."
