Calling all aspiring designers! Bench Design Awards is back on its third year, and it's in search for the next big thing in the local fashion scene.
The Bench Design Awards is a special initiative of local retailer Bench, in hopes of promoting local talent in the world of fashion. Since its launch two years ago, Bench has put the spotlight on many emerging talents like Esme Palaganas (Basic Movement), Bea Samson, Yves Camingue (YCMNG), Abraham Guardian and Mamuro Oki (HA.MU), Antonina Amoncio, Jann Bungcaras, and Isabel Sicat and Aiala Rickard (TOQA).
Creations of (L-R) RJ Santos, Jaggy Glarino, and Jennifer Contreras
Additionally, the competition has also ushered local talents into the global scene. Bench Design Awards' top three winners from 2017 and 2018 have presented their collections at the Asian Fashion Meets Tokyo show at the Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo.
Creations of (L-R) Christian Edward Dalogaog, Sherwin Sacramento, and Renz Reyes
Its first year sent RJ Santos (Randolf), Jennifer Contreras (Problem Studios), and Jaggy Glarino flying to Japan to showcase their creations while its second year saw Christian Edward Dalogaog (Ched Studio), Sherwin “Otto” Sacramento (Ottomondi), and Renz Reyes proudly own Tokyo Fashion Week.
This time around, Bench is looking for a fresh batch of untapped talents that will follow in the footsteps of these designers in making local talent go global. If you think you've got what it takes, then click here to sign up! Deadline of entries will be on June 15, 2019.
