During Premiere Classe, a fashion accessory trade show held in Paris, two Philippine bag designers got a nod of approval from none other than fashion's last grand dame herself, Iris Apfel.
Here she is with Joanique's Malou Romero posing with one of her pieces from the designer's Maskara-II collection. "It was an overwhelming experience," Malou says. "I didn't expect that she would stop at the booth and chat with me for about 20 minutes. It was a humbling experience to have a global style icon appreciate something from Joanique"
Malou also shares that Iris was very fond of the Arao and Datu clutches and wanted to buy both clutches. Instead, Malou gladly gave Iris the Arao clutch pictured below.
And here she is making Marga Valdes-Trinidad very happy as she inspects a piece from her 2016 collection. "Iris was awesome," she shares. "She stayed with us for awhile and chatted as she loved our pieces, especially the malachite jeweled bug."
In case you were wondering, here's that little bug Iris was so fond of. Made of malachite, leather, and Swarovski crystals, the accessory can be used as a brooch or a bag charm.
Just goes to show that Filipino creativity can shine with the best of the best.
