Like many celebrities, the perks of stardom didn't come quickly for Bea Alonzo. The 33-year-old actress had very humble beginnings before she hit it big, especially since she didn't come from a well-off family.

"Mahirap pong maging mahirap kapag naguumpisa kang maging artista," Bea said in an interview with Jessica Soho for Unang Hirit. In fact, it quite literally took a barangay for her to become the star she is now!

When she was starting out, Bea admitted she frequently had trouble finding clothes to wear for shoots. "Di pa uso yung mga stylist sa taping [noon]," she explained. This led the then-rookie actress and her mother Mary Anne Ranollo to take matters into their own hands, coming up with a pocket-friendly solution to the issue.

"So kami umiikot ni mama sa barangay namin, kakatok kami sa mga kaibigan [niya] manghihiram kami ng damit," shared Bea, who recently signed a contract with GMA-7.

Bea also revealed in the interview she used to hitch car rides just to be able to attend her tapings. "Wala kaming kotse, nakikisabay ako sa crew, sa staff," she said. These were only a few of the sacrifices she had to make in order to pursue her dream.

"I had to work very, very hard and I had to make a lot of sacrifices to get here," continued the actress. "I had to quit school which is my greatest insecurity, but then, it all worked out."

Now, not only is Bea a multi-awarded actress and one of the biggest names in local show biz, she's also the proud owner of a 16-hectare farm in Zambales named Beati Firma. Her story is proof that a combination of talent and hard work can get you anywhere, regardless of where you're from!
