Balenciaga is changing up a lot of things this season. First came its new logo (an entirely new font printed over a gray background), followed by—brace yourself—a surprise redesign of Crocs.
Yes, Crocs. Creative director Demna Gvasalia literally took the rubber flat to new heights for his Spring 2018 show in Paris, giving it an incredible platform heel and quirky embellishments. They look light years away from Christopher Kane's take on the clogs last year, with Demna skipping the neutral colorways in favor of brights.
The designer also had all the praises for the shoe, despite only trying them this summer. "It's a very innovative shoe. It's light, it's a one-piece foam mould, and to me these kind of techniques and working with these kind of materials [are] very Balenciaga," he tells Vogue.
So yes, Balenciaga Crocs are now a thing. And admittedly, we can't wait to see how people will wear them.
