The dress Audrey Hepburn wore during the racecourse scene in My Fair Lady has topped a list of the most expensive memorabilia in movie history.

The extravagant white-and-black gown from the 1964 musical sold for $4.5 million (£2.9 million) at auction in 2011, and is followed on the list by James Bond's Aston Martin car, featured in 007 classics Goldfinger and Thunderball, which took $4.1 million (£2.67 million) in 2010.

The piano from Rick's Cafe in Casablanca, which sold for $3.3 million (£2.2 million) last year (14), is third, closely followed by the Cowardly Lion costume from The Wizard of Oz, which fetched $3.07 million (£2 million).

The top five is rounded out by Orson Welles' Oscar for Best Screenplay for Citizen Kane, which was auctioned off in 2011 for $861,542 (£538,463).

Other items making the list of expensive movie mementos include props from The Sound of Music, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Ben-Hur, and Titanic.
